Director: Strategy and New Business
Wavelength Lighting seeks a Director to build our client network and make energy efficiency happen from start to finish.
Wavelength is changing the way commercial spaces approach lighting. We provide LED lighting as a service: designing and implementing LED lighting systems and providing them at no upfront cost. In doing so, we remove the barriers traditionally associated with LEDs (cost, aesthetics, installation/maintenance) and make LEDs possible for all types of companies, large and small.
We have done over 40 projects in the New York City area and beyond, making LEDs look good, delivering savings, and improving the sustainability of offices, schools, museums, and retail, among others. We operate out of the ACRE Cleantech incubator in downtown Brooklyn.
We are a team of two looking for a stellar third teammate. Our focus is on educating the marketplace about Wavelength’s offering and what makes us unique. Wavelength can only grow as quickly as our ability to connect with new people, and we are looking for someone prepared to be an integral part of this effort.
We need a strong written and in-person communicator who can manage a large network of clients, industry contacts, and partners. The ideal candidate is relentless about the details, entrepreneurial, passionate about outreach, and never loses sight of the larger mission that drives our work.
On the new business side, you will be responsible for identifying clients, educating them, negotiating contracts, and seeing projects all the way through implementation. You’ll also be creating proposals, coordinating project logistics, and fielding service requests. Strategy-wise, you’ll be working closely with our founder to tackle everything from branding to corporate strategy to product development. Every day at Wavelength brings new challenges, and you’ll be making change happen through hustle, creativity, and teamwork.
- 2-4 years in business development or sales, preferably one heavy on B2B interaction
- Experience at either a startup or in a role with an entrepreneurial structure
- Experience building client relationships
- Strong written and in-person communication skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Very proficient in Google Apps and Microsoft Office, proficiency in Adobe CS a plus
- Operational or project management experience a plus
- Passion for sustainability, cleantech a plus
